Ukraine is the second-largest country in Europe by area (about 603,500 km², roughly the size of Texas) and home to around 36 million people (post-2022 war estimates, down from ~44 million before the invasion). Since Russia’s 2022 invasion, millions have been displaced, but Ukraine has shown extraordinary courage, with strong global support.
Before the war, Ukraine was a major global exporter of grain (nicknamed the “breadbasket of Europe”), sunflower oil, and IT services. Its GDP took a hit due to the war,but has shown remarkable resilience.
Ukrainian culture is famous for its folk traditions, literature (like Shevchenko), and delicious food (borscht, varenyky)…
