Welcome to What the World Eats
Hello, fellow food lovers,
I’m so thrilled to welcome you to my new website! After months of chopping, simmering, and carefully plating ideas, I’m ready to serve you something special.
A different approach to world cuisines
Have you ever wondered how Thai spices compare to Mexican ones? Or why certain ingredients appear in both Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cooking? I certainly have, and that’s why I’ve reimagined how to present world cuisines.
“What The World Eats” aims to bring global food traditions together in a single format through simple infographics. Now you can explore and compare any world cuisine side by side – seeing connections and differences.
What’s cooking?
I’m adding new country profiles one at a time. Currently on the menu:
- Southern Mediterranean cuisines: Spain, Portugal
- Eastern Mediterranean: Greece, Turkey
- North African flavors: Morocco
- South American Andean spices from Peru
- British Isles cuisine with the United Kingdom
- Western European subtlety: France
- East Asian exotic flavors: Japan
For the ones that are still pending, check out their staple ingredients and key flavors. Or compare them with any world cuisine you like!
Share your food stories
I believe food is best when shared, so if you have stories, recipes, or photos you’d like to contribute to my growing collection, please contact me! Let’s explore the world one cuisine at a time, together.
Best,
Ieva
